GIVE ME THAT OLD TIME RELIGION
It was the adopted and adapted religion of the Prophet Nat Turner, and my forebears that broke the chains of African Human Bondage. It was the religion that led the Civil Rights Movement and institutional racism in America. For decades, the Black Church represented the moral conscious of the nation. It took a stand against America’s aggression in South East Asian (Vietnam) and across the globe. It was the religion of my mother, father, sisters and brothers- its good enough for me. It is not a religion of war and revolution. It preach and practice ORDER, PEACE, LOVE and FORGIVENESS. In my youthful days growing up in the Black Church, it was a secure sanctuary and peaceful haven from a troubled world and CHAOS.
