MUTT & JEFF
MUTT & JEFF is a long-running and widely popular American newspaper comic strip created by cartoonist Bud Fisher in 1907 about “two mismatched tinhorns“.
Historians regard Mutt & Jeff, originally titled A. (Augustus) Mutt, as the first American newspaper cartoon published as a strip of panels, as opposed to a single panel, making it the first “comic strip” to successfully pioneer that since-common format. The “Mutt and Jeff” comic strip remained in syndication until 1983. As a kid, I remember the “Mutt & Jeff” comic strip. I often read it because it was supposed be comical and make me smile, but I never understood its humor. So, I read and listened to news accounts of the Charlottesville helicopter crash, but I don’t understand it all. Neither.
